Workshops
Our mission is to introduce the excitement and added glamour of commentary to smaller venues, clubs, community sports days and events that fall under the ‘big’ media radar. We believe that by working with mouthy young people of all ages, who have a passion for football, we can empower people to provide their own media spectacle, and by bringing in new styles and influences, we can start a small revolution in the art of football commentary.
Do you fancy being a football commentator?
We are currently looking for young people of all ages who would like to try their gifts of the gab in the commentary box. If you want to learn to transform what is basically a bunch of people kicking a ball around into a story of earth-shattering importance with a few carefully chosen phrases, and hype up a small crowd into a frenzy of excitement, we want to hear from you! No prior experience is necessary, but MCing, public speaking, creative writing and poetry skills are all very useful. Get in touch and we’ll let you know about upcoming opportunities to train as a One Night Grandstand commentator.
Are you a broadcaster or commentator that would like to help?
We were lucky enough to work with the fabulous Phil Parry for the first One Night Grandstand. We are always looking for skilled professionals who would be willing to give their time and skills to training up the next generation of commentators. If you, or your organisation would like to participate in a One Night Grandstand workshop, or in an event, please do get in touch!
Does your organisation / community want to run some workshops?
One Night Grandstand workshops are a fun and exciting way to develop communications skills and confidance, and encourage the imaginative use of language. We are always looking for opportunities to find new talent and develop new commentary workshops for different groups and communities.
If your organisation or community group would like to run some workshops, or would like some advice on setting up your own, please get in touch. We are always happy to share knowledge and skills as well as run the workshops ourselves!
